    Need Help !Quick!

I got an 81 yt125 tri moto and i was just wondering if they ever made an electric start conversion kit for that i know it doesnt have a battery but i supose you would get one with the kit

i got another question to i cant pull start it with the rope it just kicks back and snaps ya in the nuts (thats not very cool) i just rebuilt the top end and i was wondering if its just because of the compression or maybe timing because i can push start it real easy it just seems like it needs that extra kick to get it goin thats why i was wondering about elec. start

    THANKS

It sounds like your timing is probably a little to far advanced,, try retarding it a bit,

The timing is non-adjustable on these trikes. Your getting that kickback because the engine is firing the fuel charge inside of the cylinder. Mine also does the same. There is no electric start system made for these trikes either. You would need internal gears and a place to mount the starter, internally.(Starter must be sealed)

retard the FIRE timing. it is firing before the top of the stroke, or at the very top. all bikes have a FIRE timing, but not all have a timing CHAIN. my 110 did that. i sprained my wrist from that thing kicked back. before that, i pulled half the muscles in my arm. it hurt like a *%^*^* i retared the fire timing and it was fine. also, on the two stroke, it snap back so hard because it wants to run backwards. many snowmobiles do this

Here ya go. Right out of one of my two service manuals.(and they both basically say the same thing.) IGNITION SYSTEM - All models are equipped with a pointless, capacitor ignition system. A charge coil located behind the flywheel provides electrical power for the ignition system. The trigger coil is also located behind the flywheel. The CDI unit and ignition coil are attached to the frame assembly. Ignition timing is not adjustable. Ignition timing should be correct if all components are in good working condition. OK, as I said before, the reason you are getting the kiskback is that the engine is firing while you are pulling your pullcord. I failed to elaborate more and plkmonster hit the nail on the head. It's trying to run backwards. I just did a total rebuild on my '83 YT125.(top and bottom end) This is common with a lot of two strokes. My advice..... I never put the pull handle between my fingers. I wrap my whole hand around the pull handle. That way when it kicks back it doesn't break you're fingers. It'll just pull out of your hand. If you need any more help, I'd be more than happy to quote anything you need right out of one of my service manuals. Sorry, I don't have a scanner or I'd just do that. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Manuals

I got one manual(Intertech) from Performance parts(the wholesale division of Dennis Kirk). I work on the side for a dealership. The other manual(Haynes) i got off the internet. They both have a lot of info. The intertech covers most atv's from 1974 thru 1987. The Haynes covers all Yamahas' from 1980 thru 1985, both 3 and 4 wheelers.
