i'm in the process of rebuilding my 83 250r and setting it up for 1/8 mile asphalt drag. the rod bearing is wore out so i am going to go ahead and put new crank bearings and a new rod in. how much would the labor cost to get the bottom end taken apart and put back together?

Should be around $50 to $100 for the shop to completely break it down for an "inspection". Putting it back together is anyones guess - but - I'm sure they wont let you supply the "best price" parts for their rebuild so expect to pay top dollar. I would also be suprised if they would even do just the bottom end, and not the whole motor. Anyway - The motor is so simple, You should really consider doing it yourself.

i have alot of knowledge with motors i just have never been on the inside of the bottom end. i'm only 14 so i don't have the most experience

Just get a good manual. If you have a digital camera it's a good idea to take a few pics during the tear down also.

i've heard that the crank is pressed in the flywheel side case. is this true? if so how do i get it out? who do i take my crank to, to get the rod put on?

I just had our air R cases split. If you do the crank it will need to go to a specialize machine shop to disassemble the crank, install a new crank pin and bearing. The rod might be suspect as well. A "hot-rod kit" is what youll need.
The crank bearings are going to be a bit of a job as well. There all press fit and youll have some work ahead of you there too...... Good luck..............

You should be able to do it yourself fine, if you get stuck putting it back togeather just look at parts fiece's on bikebandit or powersportspro.com the crank bearings and rod bearing will have to be pressed out, normally you can get the crank out of the case by tapping the end of it with a rubber mallet
