i just bought a trike and need some info

i just bought a suzuki 1985 185 three wheeler at a rummage sale for 20 bux. (you heard me right) anyway, it needs a new engine gasket and new breaks. im going to get that fixed asap, but im just wondering how fast this baby can really move. the guy who gave me a quote on fixing it said it could get over 40. is this true? also, hows the acceleration?

Your 185 is a 4 stroke with valves which will have a low rumbling sound. It's comparable to a Honda 200S but much uglier.

If you never ridden one, ride it out in the open where there are no trees to hit. Take it easy and learn the body english techniques for turning them. Don't dab your feet down either or you might run over them!

40 mph is plenty fast on one of those.

How do you know it needs new brakes? What engine gasket?

A suzuki trike is very unique. I really don't know what they were thinking while designing them. I'm sure once you fix it up to your liking you will enjoy it none the less. Post a picture if you can. I know only a couple people have them on the boards but not too many.

Oh, you would be surprised how many non suspended trikes there really are. All the major manufactures had them. I believe only the sport models came with shocks and a few utility trikes as well.

yeah take it easy and learn to use yourself as suspension, if you have a bad back it sucks on a hardtail, im sore from yesterdays riding on my hardtail trike.

The alt185 is geared more toward utility than sport. The sport trikes were fully suspended with manual clutch. For $20, you can't go wrong

i brought it into the shop and he told me all what i needed, but couldnt fix it because he was backlogged with motorcycles and such. ill get a picture asap

plus, mine is manual... i don't know if being manual or having a manual clutch mean something different. again, i don't know the terminology. but thanks for being patient.

A manual clutch you use like a clutch on a car. An auto clutch all you have to do is pick up on the shifter and it shifts for you. My Uncle finally finished my grandpas this weekend and it looks nice, his is a 125 but they look the same.

My grandpa's im prettyt sure is an auto-clutch
