Well, Got lucky this time around.....

Since I didnt go to trike fest I went to the Aledo Trailer park drag races near Dallas this weekend. I carried the 86 250R along to do a little tuning and get a little time on it in. After we finally got her running like it should be (jetting was off), A guy asked me if it had a Boyseen Radvalve system. I didnt know so I pulled the reeds out to take a look and thats when I noticed 3 Cracks in the Skirt of the Piston!!!. I am going to be tearing it down today and was wondering what kind of piston I should go back with? It had a Weisco in it this time and I was thinking of using a Pro-X or a Vertex but I wanted a little input from the other R guys to see whats been holding up for their R's.

www.14mins.com I think that its Bob Craycraft that owns the land that the drags are hosted on. If I would have realized that there were people this close to it here on the boards I would have mentioned it. I thought that I was about the only one here in N.E. Texas

Go with a wiseco- you prolly just had an worn out out of round bore causin the piston to slap a bit and start to crack, have also seen it when the incorect sleave is put in a cylinder and its too short causin it to crack to!!!

everyone that i know that drag races recommend pro-x pistons. i've seen a builder put a rubberband on a banshee's throttle holding it wide open for almost a minute while he was tuning on it and it did not affect it one bit. they are not better for power compared to wiseco but are close and they are very reliable.

bahah, pro-x are CAST wiseco are FORGED the wiseco will stand up to the power much better and take the heat better too....compared to a pro-x piston.

I dont think that they mind. I dont know what they would say if you wanted to drag race, I never tried because I found out about the R's piston just minutes after I got the carb straightend out. I dont know how often they have races there but next time I hear of one I will let everyone on here know about it and I will find out if the trikes are allowed to run in the event.
