Doesnt a 2 stroke put out similar amounts of emissions as the new 4-strokes anyhow? Kawasaki is also abandoning the kx125 for 2006 (I hope they are te only ones)

Well calfornian's hold on cause all two stroke DIRT BIKES with red stickers will be banned from public OHV riding area's, but... the banshee and 250R might be next....

Hey folks,
I could have sworn I heard there was a two stroke ban going into effect either 12/05 or 12/06.
It's one or the other because the latest ATV Action hinted at "getting your Banshee now.....before the two strokes go away".

From what I understand, 2006 is the last production year for the blaster and banshee.

Wonder if canada is followin the suit on the 2 stroke bans...not sure, maby we will have them an extra few years like the trikes

Our country is so stupid, like the guy that burns 1 or 2 gallons of fuel on a weekend with his recreational 2 stroke is such a threat to the environment. But we can have billy bigriggers and stupid ass mass transit systems that burn staggering amounts of fuel every waking second. God damn it. Sorry about the soapbox, that was an interesting artical.

Yeah I agree with ya. I am a total enviromentalist and want to protect the wilderness but how much damage does a 2 stoke do compared to a big SUV. America is dumb at times. Europe doesn't have as many of these stupid SUV gas guzzlers instead they have a ton on tiny 2 stroke mopeds. I think that there is another reason why the government wants to get rid of 2 stokes.
Also, why are 2 stoke motocross bikes still so popular. I bet they will not be banned.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ban will include ALL 2 stroke powerplants.
Be it ATV's, mini-bikes, chain saws, weed-eaters, lawnmowers, etc., etc., etc..

4 strokes are popping up here-and-there in the tiny-powerplants like weedeaters and such, too.

The ease of maintenance/repair of the two stroke will be missed.

Don't worry....the public losing the ability to own "dirty polluters" (ha ha) like the 2 stroke ranks right up there with the auto emissions gestapo tactics we have around my area.
The 2 stroke ban is so pitiful.
You're absolutely right....the amount of pollution they produce is miniscule compared to power plants, factories, diesels, etc..
BUT someone has to "tighten their bootstraps" and "pay the price"......someone being we the tax-paying public.

I believe, from what I read, 2 stroke will remain in production but for "Closed circuit competition use only" From what I remember seeing. How that could be interrupted is up to the person reading It I guess.

Personally, I think ALL EPA bans emissions controlled crap is a load of horse ****. Everytime a Volcano errupts it puts more carbon dioxide into the air and atmosphere then everything humans have done for the past 1,000 years. Screw all that crap. Its all horse ****. Every bit of it. Its just like the "studies" the CPSC "conducted" and found trikes were to dangerous to be sold. Its all a bunch of liberal "hey lets get together and tell everyone something is bad" deal. Just like PETA, or the anti logging assholes. Total crock of **** it all is.

Are you serious you heard that? wherever you found that information must be halfway around the world, banshees are still alive and well around here, until about a year from now when there are no new ones left.

As for the small engines... chain saws, weed wackers, ect. I'm going to dread that day pretty sure their day is in 07. Stihl had released their 2stroke with a cam and valves(lower end still lubricated same way) when I got out of that buisness. I have seen the numbers the tiny little 4stroker engines have no where near the tq. of the 2strokes. I agree with the gas guzzling suv, although I dread the day of emmission checks in Michigan , cats what cats?
