Yes you can put a twist on just about everything you own but you might have to modify your cable to make it work. Problem with the twist is you need a longer cable to go around the twist part, so a new cable might need to be on your next purchase.

You can start it up without a header, but its going to run like crap and it will be very loud..... And im not to sure but i dont think it is too good for it either..
hard on the valves.. burns them up. get a pipe.. you'll need one no matter what if you ever want to ride it..

i find thumb throttles to be more comfortable than twist, if the thumb throttle doesnt push hard that is.

I have a twist om my 85' 200x and it works grear
i have a motion pro twist throttle on my 84 200x..i havnt riddne it yet cause the stator is bad but ill let you know when i get that fixed if its good..it felt like the thumb was a little easier and returned better..the twister is really easy but it doesnt return as well..i may need some wd-40..lol or a new spring..but it is fairly new..it looks better than seein a thumb throttle hangin down tho i think

a twist throttle will not work with the stock throttle cable. get a universal twist throttle that comes with a cable. i put a twist throttle from a xr200 on my 85 200x. worked good.
