    no ones house is safe

i was watching the news today..and they said that the supreme court ruled that...local governments can sieze anybodys land if it is for economic growth.
right now my hole street is under fire...they want to tear down are houses and build streets and condos thrue this area. right around the cornor from me they did it to about 5 or 6 familys condemed there home and tore them down ...and put up a convention center....we have signs in are front yards and we have been on the news and in the paper about it. we plan on fighting this to the end. i just thought id let every body know...if your city wants your land...they are going to take it.

jeez, somebody needs to start drawing the line between right and wrong here.... I don't care what the reason is, it just isn't right to kick somebody out of their home.
Just to piss the city off though, if they do take your land, trash it before you go, I'm talking the works! Make it look like a twister hit the place. Let water run to make huge sinkholes. you know, don't go quietly....
I wish the best for you, and hope you nad your neighborhood suceeds in your fight

Hmm,,, I've heard that when they do this they often offer more than the land is worth. Is this true?

NOT true my friend. Often they DO offer morethen it's worth. It's happened twice in my family. I have to luagh at this topic though, it's been around as long as our country has. The only difference now is that they aren't holding airports, roads and other government projects any higher then any other economic growth. They aren't going to knock your house down to build another house, it doesn't work like that. The absolute worst case would be to knock down your home for a community benifiting service. Relax people, this is older then you can imagine.

Oldschoolin's right, the government has had the option to take your land since it started. I've never heard of taking land to build condos though, that sounds fishy to me. That sounds like when the Native Americans tried to sue foor Grand Island, just ain't gonna happen.

Yea...Ive heard about this a long time ago. The only way they are going to get my land is if they take a few bullets themselves or if they drag my lifeless corpse off of it.

duh! this has been legal forever!!!! its called eminent domain, they can say its the best for the whole community...it happens everywhere, just not as many houses...maybe one here or there, and it takes a lot of meetings and approvals and then they try to buy your house, but you can take them to court forever to slow them down until they give up...

well oldschoolin they are not putting up a community benifiting service....they want to put up a bunch of condos and single family homes. thats not right.....they are paying a contracter {with are tax money}from pennsylvania to come in and draw plans. on the plans they have condos houses and roads on are block....this is not something that they need! what they need to do is stop worrying about how many people they can get to live here so they can get more taxes....and start worrying about the un finnish road projects...and other problems in the city

The company I work for bought some land right next to the interstate to build a new facility. Well the government decided to rebuild and modify the off ramp where they bought the land. The government offered them way more for the land then they paid for it. My compnay refused the offer. It went to some kind of state trial, my company lost and got offered about $100,000 less for the land then the state originally offered. My company appealed so it went to trial by jury. My company lost again and recieved another $75,000 less then the previous trial.
I had the RIGHT to remain silent, I didn't have the ability!

here is what happened in lancaster for the new by pass and it happened to alot of my friends farms. the government didnt offer them anything they told them what they would be getting for their land and it turned out to be about 20 grand less than the property value so i dont care what you say about the government offering you more than what it is worth that is bs they will give you less then what your home is worth. Dont give up your land take this to the supreme court and fight these bastards dont let them get your land they legally cant you have to be willing to give up your land. the government is taking away our rights slowly kinda like molasses pouring out of a bottle so we dont nottice it untill it is to late fight it and win. we have the right to own property and to bear arms they have already started with the right to bear arms lets stop this now before it is to late. Dont give in they cant make you move legally!!!!
