250 sx missing parts ?

pulled my motor out to day to clean the frame up , pulled the starter off and the plate in front came off . so i took the stater gear wheel out and looked in , isnt there supose to be a rod running to the flywheel , running off that gear wheel , if so its missing

i don't think there are any rods in there ,,, just gears.
