    Im not very mechanically inclined but I say its ok :? Don't rely on just my opinion though.

    If it's okay, then should I at least clean that black stuff off the top of the piston??

    If you have already got it out, put a new one in. They are relatively inexpensive, less then $100. It could have small cracks or other problems you cant see.

    However, it looks OK from the pictures, but it is hard to say.

    As far as I can see, It looks like its in relatively decent shape. Since you arleady have the thing apart just slap a new one in there. Without taking tons of measurements, you have no way of knowing how long it will last.

    Basic rule of thumb, if the motor is apart, take the time and money to give it a nice new bore and piston. Good practice to keep.
