I'm also anxious to hear the answer to this. I'm gonna start rebuilding my carb today and I really don't have a clue about what to do.

basicly just remove the parts from your carb and replace with the new ones.

when you remove the air fuel screw (one just infront of the float bowl) turn it in counting the turns until it stops (not tight just till touches) and when you repace it put it the same turns out, this will give you a good start.
same with idle screw on the side.

the rest is mostly just remove and replace.

also be carefull of the small parts when removing the float to cange the needle and seat, and dont bend or you may change your float hight

also when you remove the needle be shure not to loose any spacers and the clip on the needle inside the slide

if you have a repair manual it would help alot for stuff like this

air air/fuel screw has a rubber 0-ring a flat metal washer and a spring.. in that order.. make sure the ole one's come out ( sometimes the rubber oring stays stuck ).. and the new one's in in the same order.

One of the parts needs to be pushed/pressed out.. find a robertson screwdriver the right size .. or something round of the proper diameter and you can punch it out easily enough.

PS: The manual will tell you to bring it to a dealer to have done. but that's BS

The main jet really only effects 3/4 to full throttle performance (ramping up big time towards WOT) and you have to hold it wide open and kill the engine to get a plug reading that will tell you what the main jet is doing.

If it's sputtering and making the plug black below that, it's going to be one of or a combo of the pilot jet, air mix screw and the needle position (possibly needle taper but I don't think we need to go there).

Raising the needle clip leans it out by lowering the needle and restricting fuel flow. Lowering the clip raises the needle and has the opposite effect.

The air screw will lean it out the more you loosen it by letting in more air. Tightening it restricts air flow, making it richer.

The pilot jet works just like that main jet, just in a different a different throttle range.

Nobody can tell you exactly what to do with it. You just have to understand how it works so you can get it right. Every bike and location has different requirements.

If any of that is incorrect someone will swoop in and correct me shortly.

I am gonna suggest Kasuki that you get a new plug and ride the trike. Take her to third and shut her down. let her roll to a stop. Personally I dont think you are very far off on your jetting, in fact may be right on. Your taking a 2stroke experience and it is making you nervous. I can understand that. But these 4 strokes are a little more forgiving. The charcaol I cannot say, what your plug is doing, only because you said you didnt ride her.
It could be you almost flooded, and she started and this why you sputtered.
It could be you didnt flood it but, when you slightly reved, it then got gas ( I highly doubt you said dry black)
It could be a number of things. But charcoal black at this point is not neccessarly a bad thing.

Take her to third give us things she does at bottom end, as you open up, and kill her then read the plug. If you are sitting on a fresh cylender rebuild that involves any oil to slick things up, it will change a few things just slightly so a second run may be required.
