    Streetfighter

I recently bought a used 88 CBR 600 from a family member for half cheap and have been slowly turning it into what I want. The bike came with none of the plastic except the tail pieces so I decided it would be a naked bike since plastic is so damn expensive.

Here is my starting point. What you see is what you get.

Began by removing all the unnecessary parts. The guages and fairing stay were first, followed by the signals, horn, speedometer cable and rear tire hugger. I cleaned up the rear like most fender eliminator kits for new sportbikes.

The hardest part of removing all the gauges was hiding the wiring that is usually hidden by plastic. I cut the wiring harness open and rewrapped it then tucked it underneath the airbox so that only the wiring coming from the controls is left.

    Messy.

Last weekend I recieved some parts like the Eagle Eye headlight, new levers, grips, throttle tube, choke cable, fork oil seals, Pro Taper clamps and Superbike standard bars to freshen up the old ride.

Haven't got the standard bars mounted yet as the brakeline doesn't reach. The future will bring a manual cam chain tensioner, CBR 929 frame sliders, stainless front brakelines, -1 +2 sprockets, 520 conversion, new tires and maybe some paint.

I've told my friends something like that a few times, its only a playbike to learn stunts on so it's gonna look rough regardless. And yeah it moves along pretty nicely.

I had an 88 or 89 like that also. Was my first bike and I paid like $400 for it. All the plastic was there but it was black so I just painted it and put some nice stripes on it. I ended up selling it a year later for $1800 to a dealer.
Your not going to like stunting that bike much, it weighs almost twice what my 954 does. They are one of the hardest bikes to wheelie besides a cruiser. One good thing though, if you can learn to wheelie that, you will be able to wheelie any bike.
I bought a 98 cbr 600 right after I sold the other one and within a week I was riding wheelies with ease. The 954 was a different story. I wheelied that bike the first time I shifted into second gear. The bigger they are, the easyer they are to wheelie.
Your definatly going to have a blast on that bike, they are great for learning but you will notice it lacks the power you need to stunt. You may want to look into changing the gearing once you've gotten used to it, that will help alot with your wheelies. It looks great so far, I like the streetfighter look, keep the pics coming as you finish it.

I paid $1500 for this beauty as is in the first pic (bike prices around here are absurd) and have spent about $240 on it so far. Was planning on changing the sprockets and doing some other stuff but I think I'll be buying a newer bike (maybe a Supermoto) next season so I really dont want to put any money into it that I dont have to.

As far as stunting it, yeah shes a pig but I'm not getting into stunting like you may mean, no 12's or anything lol. I really like the bike for what it is though, a burly little rocket.
