85 through 87 are the goods years to get. I would not think it would be worth trading your Z for. Value wise, it may be worth it. But over all, I did not enoy the LT as much as the Z. I personaly think the Tri-Z is a better ride to have, but that is just me.

go 87-92 they are all good, i personally think the PV motors ARE NUTS with the power they have, they are true powerhouses, and the only cons i can see is that parts availiblity is low... but most the stuff you need is probly out there, but i think they are good quads

the 87-92 were the better years with the power valve engines and better front suspension. and the 91-92 had the best rear suspension of all the years.

    Talking 1986

yes they are very good for the 1986 , the engine is not powervalved , however neither is a TRI-Z , they are superfast real light and smooth i have rode the newer versions(87, 89, 91,92) as well as the old ones(85,86) i have to say from experience the 85-6 models are quicker at take off than the 87-9, 90-2 models

its all top end with the 85 and 86

mine proved to be a good quad and so did my friends of them year models too

the only problem i have ever seen with the 85-86 models is under the front left
side the frame cracks unless well taken care of

    go 1986 great model

Wait for the 06 model IMO!

Had to say it now that I know Suzuki is releasing the new 450 as a "Quadracer" once again. Hey its "back from the DEAD"!

That thing will be a beast BUT....

You could buy 3 NICE Quadracers or heck, even 2 NICE Quadzillas for the price of a new Suzuki 450.
No matter how cool or tempting it might be, some of us just can't justify dropping around 7 large on a new ride.

Especially an expensive, complicated, heavy 4-stroke. I believe the old '86 Quadracers were around 294 lbs, very impressive and about the same as the super trikes of that era. The motor is pretty mild stock, but mods very well.

Is it actually going to be a 2-stroke, or did they just bore out the Z-400, add some hot cams and a factory exhaust and call it a Z450?
