The Silver Spade & the Big Muskie.. Ohio guys know what Im talking about..

When I make my trip to Ohio in the upcoming months to race with you guys, I would like to know where the memorial site for the Big Muskie is, and Also where I can go see the Silver Spade. Ive always been a big fan of mega machines. I was just curious if anyone was also familiar with them. Thanks.

Man i would love to see those 2 machines! My dad owns two 22B Bucyrus Erie cranes with almost all the attachments except the shovel front and the pile driver. Its one of our hobbies restoreing old equipment and cars.

I actually live in the town where those machines were built. I have no idea where they're at now though. I'll have to do a little research on that.

Well last I heard the Big Muskie was torn apart, but the bucket is in some park as a memorial with a bunch of photos. Was the Silver Spade built on-site? I thought it was, I found a web page that said they had shut the S.S. down for a year and the future look bad for it, but then they woke her back up and put her to work again, but they had to move it a few miles away.

You are correct in the fact that the bucket is the only thing left of Big Muskie. I have found it located in memorium near McConnelsville, Ohio. I will report in with more exact info once I locate it.

    Found:

Big Muskie Bucket: Caldwell I-77 Exit 25. Exit west on SR 78, a winding, hilly 2-lane road, 16 miles west to the Miners Memorial Park near Reinersville.

I was a kid when I first seen Big Musky. I seen it on a couple different trips. One time they were moving it, another they were running it. That thing could make a good sized pond in 1 scoop.
