Ya, my old SX had one too. but my 200x I have now does not? I'm confused. I thought those things were only if your trike had a battery. Maybe the seller doesn't know or he listed it wrong or something.

you would need a regulator if you wanted to run a light aswell otherwise you would be popping bulbs like popcorn

the 200x would only need a battery if it was elec start as its not it doesnt have a battery but it still needs a regulator for the headlight

The 200x does have a regulator on it to regulate the power to the lights, which is what you see there. The 200x does not have a battery nor need one as the power to run the lights comes straight from the stator, which in turn goes to coil for spark and also to the regulator to regulate the voltage down so it will not burn the bulbs out. So bottom line of the question...lol If you have lights on your 200x then yes you have or need a regulator....Chris

Hmm,,, Can someone post a pic of this thing mounted? I don't have one on mine and couldn't even guess where it goes or what it connects to.

That auction is messed up. That voltage regulator is NOT off a 200x. The 200x's didn't have one of them.
Now being as I have owned a few machines I can tell you that most likely that voltage regulator is off a 82-83 200e or 84 200es.
