    Question about adjusting valves??

As I have said in earlier posts, when I work on my 250es its all new to me so here I go. On my 1985 250es my valves are ticking pretty good, what do I need to do to adjust the valves? It should be easy right? Is there an access to get to them without removing the motor or taking the top end off completly? I know some of you are saying I must be crazy or stupid but I don't know, thats why I'm asking!

aparently the valve covers can be removed with the engine in the frame. tight frickin fit but should be possible.

I have not touched them on my SX yet.. the thing runs like a clock.. but one day i know i'll have to.

the manual says it can be done.

To make it easier, take off your seat and gas tank. Your piston has to be at TDC of the compression stroke for the easiest setting. Loosen the jam nut on the rocker arm adjuster, put the correct feeler guage between the adjuster tip and the valve and tighten the adjuster untill you feel a slight drag on the feeler guage, then tighten up the jam nut. Make sure your adjuster didnt move when you tighten up the jam nut!At TDC of the compression stroke you will be able to set the IN and EX. Another note.... dont get them too tight or you will burn your valves in a short period of time! Hope that helps YA out.
