    Exclamation Carb Experts Needed!

Well, i finally got around to rebuilding my carb today... got it all mounted up, went to kick it over and the same thing happened before i rebuilt it. Gas pours out the overflow! it seemed like she really wanted to fire up! what should I do.
Oh, it's a 200x and a moose rebuild kit if that helps. Oh, one more thing... Can the new aftermarket twist throttle have anything to do with it???

This seems to be a problem that a lot of people lately seem to have with their carbs. I thought there was another post about this not to long ago. But, anyway I had the same problem with my carb. I rebuilt it and cleaned the thing until it could be cleaned no more, and nothing solved the problem. I ended up just buying another carburetor.

When ya rebuilt the carb did * also replace the float? i know alot of rebuild kits dont include a float is why i ask and old floats can get small pins holes in them.

I tried 3 diffrent sets of floats! the rebuild kit I got didn't have one in it. I checket all 3 in a bowl of water and they appered to be fine.

this is weird i cant figure it either, it was happening to my 200s about a month ago when i first got it started working on it, when i first got it. When turned on the petcock it started pouring out off it like no tommrow. Know it stopped but some times if i leave the petcock on, it starts dripping.

My friend has a maual on the 200 hondas, i will try to find something on this situation.

the only thing I use my clymer for is when I run out of toliet paper!

I think I'm a bit slow or something cause drawings just don't cut it for me. I need detailed photographs.

i think I may have screwed up on the needle valve (or at least I think that's what is called) There's the needle valve a spring and a little rubber o-ring, then in the drawing they have something else that looks like an o-ring. Not the long pointed one on the top of the carb but a small one inside the carb itself. I don't know what order these parts go in so I winged it!

Do you have a fuel filter on it? If you have dirt in your tank then it will keep getting in the needle & seat & won't let the needle seal the gas flow off. It could also be a bad needle & seat, Float set to high (service manual has float setting), Or a bad float.

with the bowl off. measure from the carb body to the top of the float and it should be 12.5 mm. if not bend the middle tang of the float. its easier with a set of calipers to get it more exact.

theres a clip on the needle that clips on the float middle tang, then does up inside the seat as one piece.

i'm gonna have to go back out there and rip this thing off again. what a pain in the rear this is! the one bolt is sooo tight not much room at all. I don't think have it in me right now. too freakin hot and humid out.

Shawn the whole float is a yellow plastic. I don't know if I should attempt to bend it. Unless I'm not sure what exactly you mean.

you know what, if it is plastic your you can't adjust it. which is stupid. the carb i have has a plastic float. the first picture you would bend the middle tang. and the other pic. shows you how to measure the float height. but if its plastic you can't do either.

you would have to check the seat. the brass piece where the needle seats against. if it has a ring or a dent or ding thats your problem.

and make sure that you did clean it out good.

I just pulled the carb. I gotta wait for all the gas to drain. I got my dig. camera with me but forgot the plug. I'm gonna take it apart and start over. I'll take some pics of the parts and post when I get home later.

By tang, you mean that square peice inbetween the two floats right?
