    i think its great, every1 on here does not think that i can have a 138 stock jet and a dg pipe and the machine run well.... it is running lean but yes it has a rich plug no matter how you check it?, it runs very hott, not just a slight burn on the head, when i am wide open down the road i have to hold my right leg a foot away from the engine through jeans and knee high boots. it does not smoke at all, i know it is running lean and thats why its hott, it only takes me 10 min to change this jet out if its too rich then ill put the 138 back
    the main reason is to cool it off
    i dont think anything is wrong with my machine except it running hott, it is amazingly fast the way it is, but it does need to be cooler

    well i put the 142 jet in, the plug looks the same as with the 138 after riding around and doing a correct plug check. i dont know if its possible to feel the difference from a 138 to a 142 but i think i can.... before it would come up in 3rd about 4 inches..... it came way up in 3rd and had to let off to bring it down after installing the 142 jet.. i have not messed with the needle on the slide on the top, most people have told me to drop it a notch, what will dropping the needle do for the bike?
    and im sure i solved the heat problem, i actually rode it with shorts a min ago down the road and was not that uncomfortable it definently runs alot cooler...

    Dropping the needle will lean it. I would put the 138 back in and lower the clip, which will raise the needle. It will make it that little bit richer but not to much.

    Why would he put the 138 back in if it's running better and cooler?

    Leave the 142 in. When you nail the throttle to take off does it hesitate or does it go pretty smooth? The needle it responcible for the midrange part of your carburation. From what your talking about with your plug chops it sounds like your mid might be rich (honestly a guess). What position is the clip in now on the needle?

    i have not taken the top off to see the position of the needle since i bought it and i did not look then. i will check that tomorrow when i have some more time... where should it be set at with the 142?
    and does any1 know where i can order or get a 14 tooth front sprocket?

    I had the same thing happen with me, DG pipe stock jetting. After i changed the jetting its became a whole diffrent bike. If i where you i would play with your needle (richen it up) to make it run even better. Get as much gas in there as you can with out loosing performance. (if it becomes rich you will loose some power) If i where you I would go buy a 145 main try that, the adjust your needle acordingly.

    im runnin 145 main with dg krome and k&n and mine rips. does not stumble when you slam it open. i am right around sea level, within 20 feet probably.
