250sx - fuel tank prep for POR 15

I saw someone with a 250SX tonight where rust had attacked the tank, coming from the inside out, so I got the bright idea to POR mine, with their POR-15 package here --

-- so, I cleaned up the tank on my SX and noticed the petcock plastic sheath is somehow pressed in to the tank -- WTF -- !! I need to remove this strainer-shealth before the POR treatment, or the strainer will get clogged with the POR gunk --

Is there an easy way to remove this strainer-sheath so I'll just have a hole there, and then a methond to re-install this pressed piece?

Other tank ideas that don't involve a goofy-looking plastic aftermarket tank??

Got any pics of your 250SX?

the petcock screws off. look under the lip in the tank and you'll see the nut.

actually, got the petcock off, it's the strainer straw that goes around it that i can't seem to get out --

-- here's a pic of the tank, and of the base of the strainer straw --

-- should it pop out?

-- it's not budging --

we just used needle-nose pliers and pulled it out --

-- nothing purty, but it worked --
