    need help identifing this atc

ok well i found this listing in my local paper and after laughing at some of the misinformation i decided for the price this may not be a bad deal i know that the 85-86 250r's are water cooled and this isnt so i wanted to know if anyone could possibly identify this atc model and year......................... heres the ad as it was posted. " have an 86 (last year two strokes were made)three wheeler for sale. It does look rough but it runs great. There is no headlight and no airbox maybe missing a few other parts. It does pop out of third gear but otherwise it pulls strong. The bike has no title and has not been registered for about 10years. This bike was used for fun and to mess around with. It would be a great project bike or parts bike if it came to that."

Deffinately an '83 or '84, if you can take a pic of the rear shock linkage, will be able to tell you for sure. Or post the serial #.

the picture was the only one sent to me by the owner. not sure but it looks pretty rough says runs good but pops out of third gear????wonder what the problem could be with that. what would you guys consider to be the max value of this trike. what would you pay for this bike?

I personally would not pay over 500 for it.

They are fun though... lots of good usable power once you get used to how to handle it.

im not selling it i was asking what the going price was for one in such condition im considering buying. and the sellers asking price is way under $500.00 so i think its a good buy even if it has the tranny problem. are there any other 250r owners out there that have had this problem of the bike jumping out of gear? i

I say Buy it. Air foolers are common on here (somewhat) but are getting harder to find. If nothing else, buy it, and just keep it around for a while for a future project. May even find someone that wants it REALLY bad and is more than happy to double your money on the R.

ebay parts are CHEAP for air cooled.... you'd need to split the cases and look at the gears and shift forks id say to be safe full gasket set, w seals, shift drum and gears, shift forks, you may be able to find all that pretty reasonable if you can do the bottom end yourself i'd say you could get it all and get the bike running for about 300. including airbox ( clamp on!!) and headlight assembly... n i had one that had NOOO 2nd gear i just sold it for 450.00 the way it was (6 years ago..) it wasnt worth it to fix to me..

Good find man..... now what did you ever do with that 82R extended swingarm you had???

I have a running 82R, a 300R motor that's complete, but leaks oil out of a cracked case, a 82R motor that the lower is in a complete chassis, but exposed to water, and another complete 83-84R motor that had the jug started to be ported, but the crank case and tranney look fine....

i traded the swingarm along with a bunch of parts to a local guy who did some work on my 200x. im sure he still has the parts because his backyard is like an atv junkyard. and he collects but rarely sells any of it. im heading over to his shop probably over the weekend to have him look at this 250r. while im there i will ask him about the part and see if he will sell it back to me if youre still interested in it i will get it for you for whatever he charges me for it. im sorry i never got back to you before about the swingarm.

Sweet man.... I really appreciate that! Maybe I can help you out with some parts for your R.... I do have some 83-84R parts that came with my 82R.... or cash! Whatever works for you! I'm going to need that extra length when I put that 300R motor in my 82R frame!
