    Exhaust help

Ok.. so.. I just sent the money for my SuperTrapp and it should be here by Friday or next week. I have a question. When I am putting the exhaust in (the header..), when I put it in the motor (that little hole in the front.. sorry.. I don't know technical terms), how far in do you put it? as far as it goes? Will it stop at the right place? I just figured I'd ask before I tried putting it on and screwed it up. Thanks!

Better get yourself a round copper gasket to put inbetween the tip of the header and the ledge of the exhuast hole then crank it down good but not too much or you will strip the threads and then you will have a major headache on your hands.

What kind of trike are we talking bout here cause I have some extras

Without that gasket inbetween there I'm positive you may run into a major exhaust leak.

It provides a good seal inbetween there so you don't get an exhaust leak. I only have extra's for the 200x though...don't think they'll work though

Oh. Do you absolutely need them? And where would I get one for an SX/how much?

You can get them at a Honda dealer for 3 bucks or so.

It's actually a compression "donut" gasket that gets crushed (flatened) to form a good seal. When you 1st tighten down and feel the bolt starting to get snug go a little more to compress the copper gasket. Do each side a little at a time so they are fairly even.

LOOK CLOSE !!! Yours may have one now because in no time they get black from carbon and are hard to see if you don't know what to look for. Might have to get it out with a screw driver.

I have reused mine a few times thru the years with no problems but it is best to get a new one each time header is off.

The old one I took off the SX, or on the Supertrapp I just ordered?

They're talking about on the motor. You may have the copper gasket already stuck around the outside of the exhaust port.

Oh. Well what do I look for to see if I have one on there already? And I'm guessing I can use it again if there is still one there?

Ok.. well here are a few pics. I know the first one isn't related to ANYTHING about the exhaust.. I just figured I'd post them and show Huffa how they turned out.
Here is the rim/hub I just painted:

I painted 'em up, polished up the nuts and washers, and put a blue chrome valve cap on it.

Now THIS is related to the exhaust:

You see the old exhaust, and the exhaust port. Is that copper color thing that gasket that you guys were tlaking about? If thats it, do I need to replace it, or can I just use it again?
