84 250r parts questions.
i recently picked up an 83/84 250r not sure what year it is as the frame has no stickers but i have a few questions about parts ive noticed that are missing. first off is the rear brake pedal is missing and would like to know if these are available and if so where what other atc's share this part etc. also the air box is missing and i would like to know where or what do people use for the clamp on style ive seen on atc's on this site to eliminate the airbox. also is there any company that makes an aftermarket tank for this trike as the metal one has a hell of a dent on both sides and will probably cost me a mint to have repaired at a body shop

bikebandit.com or service honda would be your best bet on the brake pedal. for the clamp on air filter, measure the outside diameter of the intake horn on your carb then go to www.jlatvproducts.com and K&N filter that has same size mounting hole as your carb does. for the gas tank go to www.imsproducts.com
for a plastic tank, kinda pricey though but they wont dent.
apperently they dont show the universal air filters on the web page but the mail order catalog does, so ya may have to go that route

i have the clamp on setup on my 250r, thers no airbox or piping, just a filter on the carb. id advise using a outerware's though. the filter does rub against the frame a little, but it looks wicked. i think im going to fab up a little tool box or cargo box under the seat where the airbox was. junkyards are great places to find stuff like tanks, and the prices are good. if you wanna know how it looks i can go take some pics.

if you wouldnt mind it woulld be great to have a few shots of your 250. considering you have ,post of the parts i was considering using on this trike IE: dg pipe, clamp on filter, extended axles
-
ok no problem, the only thing i dont like is the axle spacers, they keep it alot more stable, but over time they put stress on your hubs. pics coming soon
-
how about the pipe set up any noticable gain in performance over the stock setup. ive heard that the dg pipes usually dont offer much performance gain. did you notice a difference
-
sorry for the late post... i dont have the whole pipe, but i have the slip on silencer. i cant detect a substancial power gain. i dont like the sound of it either.... but it probly gives you half a horse over stock.
-
yeah i plan on putting the whole dg pipe and silencer. the pipe setuip on my 250r is pretty ugly so even if performance isnt greater than stock the look alone will be worth it. any pics of your trike yet?

yeah, tomorrow im gonna take off the covers and snap a few to see if anyone can tell why i cant shift into 5th. while i have the camera out, ill take a few pics. she aint no show bike, but then again, nothing i ride is lol
