    UK 300 SX 90% done!!

This is a follow on to my previous thread about the 300 SX. The good news is that we have had it running and been for a test ride
We over came the wiring problem I talked about in my last thread by buying a complete TRX 300 wiring loom and CDI. We then laid the 250 and 300 looms on the floor and made one out of the two, the first pic shows where the 300 CDI is mounted at the moment, there isn't room to fit it where the original one mounted!!! This is a temporary arangement until we can ind a better place for it.
The next picture shows the unusual route our throttle cable takes, this is due to using the 300 carb.
The final pic shows how it stands now, to finish it we need a set of decals, paint the tank, and a rear light.
The first test ride went well, apart rom finding out both tyres turn on the rims, maybe its got too much torque!!
Before anyone asks we don't really know how it goes yet, we are taking it steady while we are running it in, when thats done we will compare it to a 250 ES, an 83'200x, and I know a man in wales with an 86' 200x that likes a good challenge!
Anyway, I should get out again and do a few more hours of running in

    Thumbs up Niiiiiice!

    That set-up looks stock.
    You did a great job.
That SX has to be an awesome ride now.
    Can you say "sleeper"?
The old 250 motor is stout in itself, that thing has to be impressive.
    Torque? PLENTY!

How hard was it to mate up the 300 motor/tranny to the SX swingarm/driveshaft?

    Again, great job!

THATS AWESOME MAN. I would love to put a 300 in my big red.

I have a ramdom question though, it was asked in the other thread why you couldn't move the motor over 1/2 inch instead of switching shafts.

I know I don;t have the confidence to remove and swap the shafts but wonder if there is clearance to move the motor over 1/2 an inch. If so I might like to try this.

Why would you want to offset your engine mounting? Cut and reweld a boatload of engine mounts? Lengthen or add to the engine spacers?

There is no clearance to move anything over, it's all fixed. JUst post here if you ever decide to do the swap

Wow! She's come together beautifully. Awesome job you guys have done. Before the pictures...many people would have said it was impossible.
