83 BigRed 200E at local dealership

my local suzuki dealership just got a 83 200E in on trade and there asking $700 for it. Its in pretty good shape. A little rust here and there and faded paint but looks to be in good overall shape. it has both racks front and rear but could use a new paint job on them and the tank. Rear tailight lens is busted but it there. fenders are good but faded. has a ball hitch, and could use some new tires. I think i could get it cheaper maybe for about $500 what do you guys think its worth?

also found a 80 200 with electric start thats got a new motor, new carb, new exhaust, and new tires. Says its in excellent shape. He asking $650 obo. wadda * think about this one and the other one i really would like to pick of a good trike to put around on so i dont have to run my shee all the time.

Try negotiating with the dealer, I bet they'd take high 4s or 5 for it. Sounds worth it from what you describe.

would the 83 big red be a better bike in the long run? looking for somthing to use around the house and kinda play around in the mud a little maybe.

I would not offer more than $500 to the dealer. Some pics and it would be eaiser to say. Make sure you point out all those things mentioned above to them. It might be instresting to ask how many parts are still available for that model.

yeah and its a honda at a suzuki dealership, but the honda dealership is rite across the street. they always look at me like im stupid when i ask about trike parts though. The zuki-kawi shop was pretty helping with getting me some parts for my T3 when i had it, but the honda-yamaha-HARLEYDAVIDSON shop sucks. only way they will usually help * is if you are looking at a harley so i try not to go there. Anyways ill see what i can work out on the Big Red. I noticed this bike has a high and low what is this used for? will it do good in the mud?

Great in the mud. The high and low range transmission allows you to select low range for steep hills, heavy loads, pulling, hauling, etc. High range is good for 90 percent of normal trail and mud riding. Being a dealer that took it for trade, I be they only got 300 bucks in it. Point out all the bad stuff and offer them 450 cash. Show them the bills. I bet you leave with it

I paid $500 for my '84 big red so $700 is definatly steep.

plus im pretty good friends with a guy that works tthere so that might help, i think ill try to pick it up this weekend. Around what kinda top speed do these have and how big of tires can i put on it. So you all agree id be happier with the Big Red, ive always wanted one anyways.

I have hit 50mph and that was almost full bore. And I think they came stock with 25x12x9 tires.

if you want bigger it looks like 27" is as big as you can go (just by looking at the clearance). And you have low range anyway so I'd say go for it if the tires are ****.
