    230 quadsport will not idle

My friend recently rebuilt his 230 and had it idling for several minuets the night he threw the engine back in but since then it will not idle. It is a 1986 by the way. We have adjusted the idle, air screw and in addition took the idele screw all the way in and out with out it even attempting to idle. Any Ideas?

Also we have cleaned the carb 7 or 8 times and turned the choke on to see if it would help (and it didnt). And if it makes any difference he has a dg pipe that came with it that is not for this quad and he hasnt rejetted.

Make sure the valve's are adjusted correctly. Then pull the bowl off the carb, & make sure the pilot jet is clear. Take the pilot out of the carb & make sure you can see through it. Also maybe before you pull the bowl you need to see if the throttle slide is just barely open. Just a little bit. I would turn the idle screw (the one that pushs the slide up) in about 3/4 to 1 turn after it hits the slide. Then turn your (should be a feul screw i believe) all the way in easy against the seat & back it out about 1- 1/2 turns Then give it a wirl. By the way the pilot jet is the one with the smaller hole.

The needle has nothing to do with the idol. The pilot & the amount the slide is cracked open is what makes it idol. The needle is your mid range,(when you roll on the throttle), & the main is what the needle opens up for wide open throttle (wide open is all main).

but if you have a very worn needle or for some other reason its not seating properly this will allow the main jet to supply fuel even with the slide closed, richening up the mixture alot when at idle. i had a big problem with that somone had decided a shorter needle would help the engine all it meant was that it was very rich at idle and when it stalled flooded the engine.

Speaking of 230 Quadsport's, how much would a good working engine, carb and electrical system go for?
