ordered a carb rebuild kit for the 250r* updated* check out what happened

i ordered one of those rebuild kits today, should be here in 3 days, but i was just wondering how hard is it to do? ive taken apart carbs before, but its been a while. is there any pj carb diagrams around? i could really use one. the kit comes with the stock jet, but i have a clamp on filter on the carb, and a slip on. should i rejet?

My rebuild kit came with NO instructions. The manual is absolutly no help <well for me anyway. lol

Do what I didn't do... If you got a digital camera take pics of it step by step. Remember how many turns to get the air/fuel screw out same for the idle screw.

Was the air filter on there before? Any changes or mods may require rejetting.

LOL... I've become somewhat of an expert on carbs over the last couple days.

I had alot of problems with the air/fuel little rubber oring. The one in the moose kit I got was much bigger than the stock one. I couldn't get it to screw back in.

i meant to say air/fuel mixture thing look at the pics I guess all carbs are basically the same.

The middle pic is where I ran into a problem. There is a little flat metal washer and an oring. that goes on there last.

Its easy, just avoid overtightening the jets, they break easily. Clean out all the air passages with carburetor cleaner and compressed air if its available. Those little basketball inflation needles work great.

A torch tip cleaner works great also for cleaning jets and small passages in the carb.

good news! i just rebuilt my first carb, i think. the weirdest thing happened though. when i finally got the bowl off, i pulled the jets. the main jet is a 148 and the slow jet is a 42?!!?!!?!?! is this a 85-86 carb? because my kit came with the stock 130 main, which isnt even close to 148. nothing fit, except some springs and seals. what carb is this?
