Keep it or sell it?? My 86R

Well, I'm needing some ideas of what to do. I love my 86 R, but I'm tired of dealing with mixing gas and having to fly up hills at 100mph. I like the idea of being able to creep up hills and not have to mix gas and oil with the 350x. The question is, do I keep the R and invest in a 200x for beating on, or do I sell the R and buy a 350x? If I sell my R, how much do you think I will get for it?

    I'd love your R but I couldn't afford it :x . If I was you i'd look around for a beater 200x and keep the R.

Let us know how much if you do decide to sell it, but i think Dynofox has the right idea.

I'm kinda leaning that way. I have a 310 big bore kit and a set of mugen aftermarket front forks for it if I keep it.

No way, Kim. Sell a 250R like that for ANY 4 stroke? No way!

If youre sick of mixing gas....maybe you should look into being the only person to have an oil injected 250R. hehe

 Mixing gas is the last thing I would be worrying about when Im goin through the gears. Its a small task but you will be rewarded in the end. In my opinion, I think you're NUTS to sell your R. That thing is BEAUTIFUL. But, if you have to sell it, as soon as you do, you will find a new riding buddy with an R and you'll be kicking your arse for it. I say, save up for an X (200 or 350)

I've faced the same delimma as you. I want a pluggin' around on/creek riding/mud boggin' machine, but I want something with balls, too.
I will build my R into a earth eating machine from Hell, and buy me a 200X or a YTM225 to ease around on. Who says one machine is all we need, when we know deep down that one machine can't possibly fill the bill and make us totally happy.

I reckon one on NOS would!
Seroiusly, The 350X would be my first choice of if I wanted a ballsey 4-stroke machine, but since I have an R( better covering the need for such a 'wheeler), I would choose a smaller displacement 4-stroke to play with. If I were to want a mean machine only, I'd pick an R, Tecate, or a Z. If I wanted a mean 4-stroke, it'd be the 350X hands down. I loved the one I had.
I just wouldn't putt around the creek all day on it.

I'd be too eager to stretch it's legs to ease around on it.

i would say take it and sell your 250 and pick up a decent x and r (you could probably afford both) i love my x i just put gas in it straight fromt the gas station and go my bike is a 2 stroke its a big hassle to mix it in my oppinion and as soon as i have the money i'm selling my bike and getting a crf 250 or 450 and rember the way things are going you wont be able to ride a 2 stroke in the future around here (centeral cali) you could get around 2600-2800 with paddles maby 1600 w/o

I think if you sell it your gonna regret it later...R's are definitly getting harder to come by. Hang on to it and seek out a decent 350X and have the best of both worlds.
