Good way to check for air leaks????

What's a good way to check for air leaks around the carb and the carb boot between the carb and cylinder? I have an 84 200x. I need simple ways of checking this with stuff I can use around the house. Thanks.

Take johns advise! That is a very good method. I sometimes use starting fluid when checking the crank seal or base gasket, but I usually use carb cleaner as john said around the carb and intake boot.
