    Unhappy KLT110 Missing Gears

    Well, they're not missing...I think they're still inside the case, but I'm having trouble finding them. :-)

    Recently my KLT110 started missing gears from 1st to 2nd, and now it's expanded to include 2nd to 3rd. Sometimes it jumps out of gear as well. Is this a clutch issue, or something more serious? I have noticed some slippage, so I'm sure it will need a clutch soon, but I don't want to mess with it if the clutch forks are wearing out or something like that. Parts for these things are practically nonexistent.

    Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    The KLT110 is infamous for losing teeth on gears, and other geabox problems. You wont know until you begin disassembly, but Id bet on it being serious.

    Yeah, when I got it, it had teeth missing on some gears, but that was way worse. I ended up just replacing the engine. I was thinking that it wouldn't be that this time because there's no bucking or clunking once it's in gear, it seems to be an issue going INTO gear. If it's like you say I probably won't bother fixing it. Oh, did I mention that it shifts fine when it's cold and gets worse once it's warmed up?

    Yes. If you can eventually get it into gear, and it runs without clunking, it would most likely be a problem with the shifting forks or the shifting drum. Ther clutch has little to do with getting it into gear as long as its not partially engaged and pulling while you are trying to do it.

    I'm pretty sure those (shifting fork and drum) are parts I can't get anymore, are they?

    Well if you kept the old engine if it was only the teeth that were broken. You should be able to get the fork and drum from in there, if there in good condition
