Part this Big Red 200 out or fix it?

I'm just not sure what to do?

It needs tires, axle, sprockets, rear brake assembly, battery, tank repainted, handlebar switch assembly, seat, whole rear fender sections (both sides) front fender, air filter, carb gone over, frame repainted + tons of other parts repainted too and I'm sure there are things I am forgetting.

It sat for a year, I jump started it direct to the starter and it started right up.

    Paid a 100 for it.

    What would you do?

Do you have the money and time to fix it? It looks like a great project, but if you don't have the money or time.. part it.

I say fix it if it runs. Put a seat on, filter, tires an axel and you have a good beater

If the motor/trans are decent & the frame is good, I'd fix it. How is the front suspension?
    A whole bunch of trikes.

Well since I have 4 trikes already there would be absolutely no rush to fix it. It would be just a little here, a little there at a time.

I really did buy it to part it out but I hate doing that and might chnga my mind?

The engine would clean up really nice and as you can see really doesn't look bad.

Then again I could make a few 100?

Just curious what most of you would do? I imagine all done up it be worth close to a 1000? I don't rebuild them 1/2 fast so keep that in mind also.

I am the type that either I fix it as perfect as possible or I don't want it.

Even if I made it a beater I just could not leave it alone till every part looked good and was funtional. It's just the way I am.

All that I know is it moves up and down. I know how to change fork seals and the fork oil so that is not an issue to me.

The rear suspension is fine also

That style of front fork is prone to corrosion. All honda did on that one was chrome the lower portion of the forks which is all one piece with the uppers. If either one is corroded you have to replace the whole thing at once. Hard to find good front ends for these, the last 2 that I seen on ebay went for over $100.

So the engine/ tranny works? Seems good to me. I would just put on a new axle and go CRAZY out on the trails. I mean just dont care, wear all pads and just do whatever. I would take it in a heartbeat!

Part it out, unless you really want a big red 200. If it was a 250 i'd probly fix it up. But that 200 just isnt worth it in my oppinion. Part it out and put a few bucks in your pocket to put towards other projects. You will also be helping other people keep theirs running.
Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.
