anyone else stand there trike straight up to drain their oil?

if i dont stand my 200x straight up in the air it only drains about half of the engine oil. WTF is up with that? Also, how come once you change gears after the oil bolt is out, it has to be in neutral to screw back in?

That is weird and beyond my compehension as to why you need to do that. How does she run? Is there any problems with the motor or did you have an ATV doctor work on it and leave his wrench in the motor

I do that to change the rear diff oil on my SX.. open the fill cap, put tray under diff.. pick up the front forks and ballance the trike on it's rear wheels. let oil drain, drop forks re-fill put cap back on. 5 minute job.

removing diff cover.. removing drain screw with 10mm bolt.. wait...... 20 minutes.

As far as oil when you tip the trike ... front wheel up .. or on it's side ? I've always kicked the motor over a few times to get the pump going and spit out the oil in the lines running to the head.. at least that's what i think goes on.. but i do know that you get more oil after a few revolutions of the motor. even after it's totally drained.

phew.. this was going to be a 1 line reply too....

It sounds like he's draining it from the bolt on the very back of the engine...hence why the machine needs to be in neutral to get the bolt back in.
