I may load up the Durango with my guns, tent, Alice Pack, hip waders, all the Water, Speghetti O's and ammo it can carry and head down there to offer my services to one of those wealthy hotels or shops as a "Private Security Firm". I'll say "my fee is $50,000 per job and you can pay me when the insurance kicks in". I understand letting them have any food they can find - thats only right. However - I see some retard pushing a worthless waterlogged big screen T.V. with 10 pairs of Nike's strung around his neck, I'll shoot him on principal alone. I also love how they are taking pot shots at the rescue and supply helo's - maybe they think that if they shoot one down, they'll get to the supplies faster?. They might think twice if theres an Apache escorting them - that 30mm Bushmaster chain gun will do wonders for crowd control. All I can say is - the mayor did order EVERYONE out before the storm, right?.

Mike, be careful and good luck.

Good luck man, Somebodys got to do it. My prayers are with you and the other down there.

P.S I also would think a kevlar vest is a good idea, and the thing about the no guns. Have you seen the condition down there? I would bring one.

I hope you give your comments some more thought. Socialism isn't too far off.
What I mean is that there are a lot of idiots out there that shouldn't have a gun in their hands in the first place. Now give him a Rambo attitude and I wouldn't want to be in range when he starts shooting. Over water no less...
I have no problem with protecting yourself or your business if you know what you're doing.

I don't know Mike whatsoever, but I've been reading his posts for a number of years.
From that, I don't think he'll be part of the problem.
Good luck man and yes Kevlar vests are available at your local army surplus store at a bargain. They are heavy. They are hot. But they might also save your life.
I visited Bosnia with the troops during the hostilities in the '90s and wouldn't wear a vest for those reasons. Too hot. Too uncomfortable. Too heavy.
It took one instance of gunfire nearby to convince me that 90F isn't as hot as the fires of hell -- where I was likely going if one of those bullets reached me.
    Godspeed, man!
