350x oil pump question

Building an 86 350x. The motor I put in did not have anything under the clutch cover when I got it. I took all the old parts from a blown motor an put them in. Cranked and ran fine. Pulled the external oil line off at the head while running and no oil came out. Took it off the bottom and some came out but not much. Tore it down put another punp in and no oil at he head still. Waiting for it to cool so I can check at bottom. Question: How long should it have to run before oil will come out at the head? I know it has to fill the cooler first. Any help on the problem will be great! Thanks.

Well I dunno about a 350x but I know with my YTM200 it will takes anywhere up to a minute, and my book says if it runs longer than that without oil to the head turn it off then start again for another minute until oil comes up.
