At that point in time it was acutaly a 05 trx450 carb. Then i went to the 400ex carb, Then to the FCR.
I have never had any problems with oil or heating on that bike. Mainly jetting and octane rating is the biggest factor on operating temp You richen it up and it will cool your bike down if your having problems. I woudnt do the oilcooler unless your running frequently in +100 degree temps.
Ill see what i can do to get a clip of that exhaust. I also did a new one that sounds even better, Its a DR D off of a trx450 Im going to do a writeup on how to do the exhaust and get it on 3wheeler.org/vb
down here during the summer it sits over 100 degrees...I figure every little bit helps.
NOS...what was your jetting with that fcr...I know mine won't be the same, I'm just curious about a starting point for the leak jet and main.
also...what in god's name does that "mikuni" style jet in there do...and di you change it?
So what exactly had to be done to the head pipe? I still have brand new take off 400EX exhaust from a 400 I bought new in 2003 and I would like something other than DG on my 350X.

Swigin, What tep do you run at that you must have a secondary oilcooler? now is this fact that you go big you must get one or is it just your oppinion?
Goat, With the 400ex carb and 450 carb i was well into the 200's (around 220 on the ex carb) With the FCR carb i then was able to be around the 175 range.
Im not shure exactly which jet your talking about (its been a while since i had to pull the bowl off) but its eather a Leak jet for the acclerator pump, or a starter jet. no need to change.
Blown, 1 easy cut, Grind, Weld and your set, With the 400ex headpipe and a 450 stock or aftermarket pipe the rear mount even lines up, With the 400ex rear pipe you have to make a new location for the rear pipe mount.
Isnt the Eseries pipe the one that was falling appart on everyone?? i think so.
with the 37 fcr...were you able to use the choke...or...did you simply jet it to where it would start?
...stock in the 37 I purchased was the 42...seems like a 45-48 would be more correct.
But back to the thread, if you still have pics, would you post them up? I'd like to see this cooler mod.
also, with your huge main jets, were you running something larger than an 83mm piston?
temps range from sub 0 to 100
and im talking about larger then stock coolers not dual stock ones.
i used to run a stock cooler on my 350x quads but a 450r cooler cools much better. and the 460cc motor my buddy built will over heat when it's 80 degrees and up with a stock cooler.
