Just a question about a single backfire.

I just leaned out my carb a little (460 main and needle on leanest setting). I also installed Power Reeds. Man what a difference ! The Z is coming along nicely. But when I killed it and let it sit for awhile and then kicked it over it backfired and sounded like a d*mn gun ! It has done this only twice since I've owned it, but it always catches me off gaurd. It runs great and fires right up after that, but what would cause this in the first place.

    Thanks

just some air/fuel mixture igniting in the exhaust...but what i can do if bad enough is blow your crank seals out....which would suck.

Yep, may be caused by ignition mis firing and allowing fuel to load up. Hard to tell. There is also a "lean backfire" condition but thats usually on a hot engine on deceleration.
