Question Need Some Serious Help: What Swingarm Is On My 250R???

OK... got this practicly mint swingarm skid plate off an 83 R... but it don't fit on the swingarm that is on the 84 R? It is like the shock is in the way.

Are the 83 swingers different than the 84's?

Here are some pics... I was thinking maybe it could be from a liquid R??? What do you think??

It's not off a water cooled R that's for sure and as far as I know 83's & 84's are the same. It may be off an 81 or 82 R or some other bike altogether and the seller didn't know what he was selling.

The holes for the screws seem to be lined up perfectly with the skidplate... it is just the shock that is in the way.

Is it possible that this in an 84 swinger with a later model shock?

That looks like an 84 swinger to me. In fact its decal is even torn as the same spot mine was lol. Im thinking that you have a plate for some other machine. A water pumpers chain is oppisate of the air cooled.

Thats an 84 swinger, but I know the pro-link set up is different then the 83. That might be the difference. I think the 84 link hangs a little lower then the 83. Partsfish does list them as the same part # though. Maybe its from an earlier 250r.

That's probably it, thanks oddball. Now to go find an 84 skid plate...
