I pulled the motor off the bike and then I pulled the head off and found a stuck intake valve. But the best thing is the valve stuck and hit the piston and bent the valve so rebult time.

Yikes!!!What are you gonna do? I'm not too good with those but is there alot involved? Btw That's the 5th time that motor has been pulled.
Well I guess I'm goning to rebuilt her I have to split the case first and check out 5th gear it goes in gear and than sounds like it is slipping. Does anybody know were I can get aftermarket valves? And I would like to thank everybody for all the help. And chris no its not that bad pulling it apart it's going to be hard messing with the trans.

I tried to change the tranny gears in that motor myself... They were chewed apart and the motor was locked up when I purchased the trike. Those are newer gears in the (not original) Anyway, I was in way over my head. Be sure to use the manual and keep everything in order. I left the gears on the workbench for a while and everything got mixed up.A good digital camera is a good idea! Take lots of pics and use them for a reference. It's very hard to tell the diffrence between gears from the schematics in the clymer manual.

The only other thing that I can think of is the guy that had it before me took the motor apart... When he put it back to gether there were some things missing from the motor. Like a couple circlips and washers... Make certain that all the shims or washers are in with the gears.
Oh, denniskirk and rmatv both have vavles available to the 200x.![]()

Redneck ring test-put some 30 weight oil in cylinder, enough to cover piston head, put finger over plug hole and give it a pull if your finger blows off or you feel more preasure than without the oil your rings are bad, if it makes no difference your valves are probably missgaped. Valve lash is easy to fix you just need gapping specs. Valves are checked and gaped through the valve covers, large round 22 or 24mm head plugs that cover your valves, heck a valve could just be stuck or your timing could be off. Timing is easy to check to, remove timing plug and when piston is tds the t should line up.
Hey Bob, You will need to pull the flywheel in order to split the cases. Which requires a puller. I don't know if you knew that or not but you'll have to get one of those. If you got any shops around they will do it for a couple bucks. That's how I pulled mine. If not they can be found in the same place you got the vavles for around $10-$15.
i have to ask, how would a valve just stick after its been run for awhile?
sounds like it was out of time and thats why it was hard for you to start in the first place, chris.

I dont now why it stuck a valve but it was stuck and its bent. Can I get away with out putting a new head gasket in it? And Chris my dad has a dump truck co. and has every tool in the world I hope. I really dont want to split the case but if I cant get it back togather its looking like a Honda 2 stroke 500x death trike!!!!! Hey there gose Bob that red flash the only thing in my way will be trees.

Of course it's gonna be stuck after the piston hits, bends, and rams it up. Get a new head gasket, you might make it work again for a while but you wouldn't want members thinking you're hacking things up.

thats what i'm getting at. the engine must have been out of time for the piston to hit a valve and bend it. and you should always use new gaskets. its cheap insurance.

Valve sticking is common in 4 strokes. Here in Iraq I had gotton a brand new pressure washer for the humvee's. It worked fine for 3 days and then just shut off. I tried putting gas in the cylinder and everything to get it going again. Checked the spark and everything was fine. Then I realized that it was a little to easy to pull start. I pulled the valve cover off and sure enough the intake vave was stuck open. I took the spring out got a wrench and pulled it back and forth a few times and it got free again. Put it back together and it started right up. Thankfully nothing bent. I couldn't understand how it happened, it was brand new. Well good luck with the rebuild.
