Thumbs down ATC 110 losing power

I have a Honda 110 ATC that seems to bog down after about 10-15 minutes of riding. It runs fine then all of a sudden you hit the throttle and it wants to die out. Once it sits for a few minutes it will fire right back up and can be ridden for about 5 minutes before the same thing happens. It has good compression and spark. Cleaned the fuel tank, carb, put new filters and gas lines on it but didnt help. I did notice that the gas is not flowing freely through the filters. (bought at O'riley auto parts). Have to squeeze the gas lines for the filters to fill up(maybe just running out of gas??) Is there a certain type of filter needed. I also heard it could be the gas cap not venting right? Just trying to figure out what direction to go in to try and fix it - fuel or electrical. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Ought to get a strong stream out of the hose, Id look at fuel system. The filter should flow just hanging there. Compare how much it flows in 10 seconds without the filter, then with.

Guess I'll see how the gas is flowing through first and then check the petcock.
    Thanks for the replies....

Try lettin it flow with the gas cap on and then with it off, you might have a venting problem with the cap. I see it alot with lawnmowers. Will run great for a while till you get vacume in the tank, let it sit and then it will start and run again for a little while.

    hm

I had a Quadsport 230 that did that after I didnt put a part back on at the point where the muffler goes into the motor. I forget what it was but I remember thinking it unimportant.
It would run till she got hot, then it would start to sputter and stall. It would take about 15-20 minutes befor she would restart. It took a week of trying all the above stuff before I decided to put that small part back on it.
It ran great till I sold her a few years later.
Just a thought in case you messed with the exhaust and its missing a gasket or whatever.

Can anything electrical cause this problem? CDI, coil, stator....just in case everything else checks out ok. Like if a wire is cracked or frayed it will heat up and expand causing it to lose connection and once it cools down again it will be fine...and so on.

Is the inline filter made for engines with a fuel pump? I know that may restrict the flow of gas, but you were saying you had the sqeeze the lines to make it fill the filter so the petcock is probaly clogged of rust or something. try that first, if it still doesnt work, it could be the cap not venting, take that off and run it for a bit with something over the hole just so the gas wont come out.

Not sure, just went to the part store and picked out two small fuel filters. Guess thats not the best way to do it. I cleaned the tank (pretty dirty) but didn't mess with the petcock. I'll start there.

Thanks again guys for the help.

Yea, take the petcock off and blow compressed air through the opposite way the gas flows. Switch it to reserve and blow through again. A bunch of crap should come out. You say your tank was dirty, I'll bet it's your petcock.

Does the petcock have any type of screen in it? Should I replace it or just clean it real good. After cleaning the petcock itself.
