    Jetting on a Tri Z

I've been piecing my Z back together and know I'm going to need to rejet. It's stock besides a DG pipe, silencer, and Uni filter. How many should I go up? Would I just change the main? I just don't want to run it being lean right off the bat, rather have it a little too rich and come back down. Thanks.

This will be good info for me too since i'd like to know what I should be running for jets in my 85 with a dg pipe. How do you like your tri z 200xer?

I don't have the original jetting specs in front of me, but I would say go up a couple or a few and work your way back if necessary. I'm sure you'll agree that it's best to err on the side of caution.

I've only been able to put around the yard a little bit because I have no airfilter and no exhaust gaskets at that time. Amazingly it started up 2 kick and ran great. Can't wait until I get all my parts and it's all together.

What makes you think you have a jetting problem? Run it as is, and monitor the plug.
Mine went from stock pipe to a Cobra pipe, to Boysen Reeds, to a KN filter, to a DG pipe, with cylinder bores from stock to.080" twice, winter and summer, over about 12 years. Ive run trails all day, and Ive run motocross and even a couple harescrambles. I have rarely fouled plugs other than when needing a bore job, and never melted a piston in it. The only time Ive ever touched the jets was to clean the carb. They are original.

Do a plug chop to determine if you need to re-jet. Don't take a chance based solely upon what works for someone else.
