    r/c car nitro in a 250R.

so, you guys.....i got a new project, next monday im picking up a 86' R that had the crank go....im getting it for probly 400$ its in decent shape, so im gonna put a +8" swinger on it and one of 2 295 kits that i will probly have. the thing is, it is going to be for drag only, and i want to run R/C car nitro. HOW THE (((DON'T BYPASS THE WORD FILTER))) do i do this? i really dont want to blow up a new motor. anyone with experience help me out...

just an idea, try runnign race gas them move to alcahol so your relitivly close on jetting, but with the rc car nitro ? alcahol mix you can NOT start it with this , woudl have to prime it with gas first or you will blow the head off the motor, i know from experiance, i couldnt figure out a safe way to run it in a banshee so i went with a 40-60 mix alcahol? mr8 mix and produces most reliable results.

You're going to run R/C nitro in a 250R? Very fun for the 2 seconds your piston will last... Seriously though. You're actually gonna do that? That stuff is like... 50 bucks a gallon. At least here in Nome it is.

    Why not just run alcohol?

You can gain some serious power form nitro methane, but It is a differant grade then r/c nitro plus you must run it with alcahol. Just my 2 cents I wouldn't try it until you have it dialed in on alcahol. Even then I don't think you want to mix much more then 15% nitro. I believe vp make a nitro I know phillips race fuel have one. If you just want to play with some thing you might try soem nitro propane it is stable in race fuel.

That premixed stuff is mostly (depending on the percentage, 40-60%?) castor oil, so if you use R/C variety, the question becomes "how do I burn oil." The answer is "with a lot of difficulty."

Straight nitromethane has a much less BTU content (energy per gallon) content than gasoline, so youll need a garden hose (relatively speaking) to feed the carb, which will no longer flow enough fluid to work, because gasoline has a very high BTU content per gallon, so the jets are small.

Sure itll work, but itll take some chemistry, throwing the carb away and a lot of tinkering to sort it out. From what research Ive done on it, this website looks accurate:

Alright folks, new rule, if you dont know what your talking about then DONT REPLY.

Anyone ever been to go-cart track? Ever been curious about that sweet smell that smells sort of like 110 octane?. Ask a driver or pit member to get you into the pits, talk with some of the guys about what they are running.

I live next door to a go-cart track (ask the creator of this post, he knows), I Have asked them before what they run, what do they hold up? A jug of rc fuel, and a bottle of klotz benol oil.

What do I run in my r/c's? Trinity 20%-35% fuel, with klotz benol.

What does it take to run it in any 2 stroke motor? A richer oil mixture and jetting changes. You will also want to change your fuel lines to a silicone type. You will have to drain your fuel system everytime you are done riding, or the fuel will eat at the rubber parts. and will also thicken up and clog jets and lines.

    Now, for the next part of this post, heres what I used;

Me and my buddy were messing around, when we decided, why not make it his 240 blaster run on it. To start off, we changed the fuel lines, and put a jet we knew would be too big in (trust me, its ALOT better to be too rich then too lean when you are running this).

We mixed the trinity fuel with klotz benol, at about a 40:1 ratio. Then poured some in and began downsizing the jets untill it ran good and clean. When its too rich it just runs plain crappy, but keep downsizing them, and soon you will know its running awesome the first touch of the throttle. We kept it a bit rich just to be safe.

How did it run? INSANE. unreal amount of power gain. We ran about 7 or so gallons through it, untill we came to realize, that it would only be good for a race machine only. Basically because all the trouble of draining the fuel system after every ride, and the price tag of $25 for the fuel, and the price tag of the klotz.
Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.

wow this sounds inteligent, lol. Did you know that those RC cars run at can run at 50,000 rmp's??? They manage to get 1-2hp out of .21 or .25 cobustion chamber!!!! They do that because of the fuel they run, the nitro. If you were to put that crap in the R the head would blow off!!!

I know form expierence. In my shop class last year me and my friend were bored so we put about 3oz's of nitro in with 1/2 gallons of gas. That little 5hp 4-stroke was reving SOOOO high, it was like the thing was a performance 2-stroke engine! Needles to say it ran for about 20 seconds. After that we to took the the thing apart and found out the rings melted, and the piston head was all warped!!! good times!!! That was on some little piece of crap nobody cared about, with that lean of a mixture. So try and imagine what it would do to your 250R........
