    Brake question

Does anyone know if a pinched brake line(just above the rear master cylinder on a 83 200x) can cause the caliper to freeze up.

it might, but most likely your problem is just a siezed caliper due to age and abuse, you will probably need to strip down the caliper, clean all the components down, clean out the groove where the seal sits and re-assemble the thing, sometimes you can get away with re-using the old rubber components but its probably best to replace them. The piston seal is a square section, it design is so that as the piston moves out under hydraulic pressure, the seal kicks over slightly, this helps to retract the piston once pressure is released, when the seal becomes worn the square edge becomes blunted (for want of a better term) and doesn't help the piston to return, that contributes to the caliper hanging on.
Hope this is of some help

Yeah the caliper needs a rebuild for sure. I had one that stcuk every now and again and then one day the thing got stuck for good. I could have fixed it with the rebuild kits but never did and had to break the caliper to remove it from the rotor. My rotor got red hot from the dragging and just seized up. Get a kit and rebuild it before your out a caliper.

Thanks. I knew it that it just needed to be rebuilt or cleaned, but I noticed the brake line was pinched and cutting off the fluid and wanted to know if that could cause it.

Yes, it can. It can act as a One way valave for brake fluid and cause it to stay closed. Its very easy to check, If the caliper is froze or locked, open the bleeder screw to release any fluid pressure. Once the bleeder is open, see if the brakes have released. If they are still froze, its the caliper. If they release, its the brake line or master cylinder.
