    Coolant backfill on Tecate 3

    1986 T3 coolant resevoir. Mine is missing. Is the backfill tank necessary?
    The coolant seemed an inch or two low after I got it, but there is also a slight leak on the waterpump cover at the coolant drain bolt. Is this bolt usually gasketed?

    I ran mine for a few years without the coolant res.

    There's just a washer underneath the water pump screw.
