Just about everyone knows that putting paint or stickers on a plastic gas tank don't last. Some say it's because the plastic will breathe some gas fumes through it. If this is the case then why not line the tank with Red-Kote and solve the problem?

I was told to put a bunch of pinholes in the sticker before you put them on. But never tried.

Will the lining bond to the plastic? That's the main problem to overcome. If it doesn't bond, then the gas could eventually work it's way under it, and we all know what will happen then.

i tossed the idea of using kreame on my plastic tank since it worked great on my metal tank but from what ive heard it will only bond to metal so i didnt try it. i wonder if redkote is the same i have a really faded tank i want to restore but havent found anything that will work yet. ive been thinking about trying boiling water and dye.

kreem will work on plastic, I did it on my r, and a friends R. The instructions says not to,.. but if you clean it really good with water and soap before hand.. the kreem will stay in the tank.

did you repaint or put stickers on the tank afterwards? and did it hold up i have a tank on my 250r that is almost orange and i want it either red again or just might paint it black and go with new black plastics. any help would be great .... do you have a cannondale speed? ive always wanted a dale quad so bad but im scared of those engines or the crank in those engines.

For a test I used some Red-Kote in a plastic Gas can that had a whole in it. The can has been full of gas for 2-3 weeks and it hasn't dripped a drop. I can say for sure if the Red-Kote held 100% though. I only coated a small area of the can. It was a test and I'm not out much if it don't work. From what I seen so far it seems to be working just fine.

I was told by a guy who owns a body shop that the Kreem should work on plastic tanks as long as you clean it properly first and let it dry good and then it should take about 2 hrs to evenly coat the inside {not allowing it to settle at the bottom} and to drain out any excess.}He said if you let it puddle up on the bottom ,after it dry, it will crack, so don't get it to thick.
