    The magazine idea.

Alright so lets do this, it branched off from HERE I think we should start with donations, we need to ask howdy if he could collect. Then we get paper, then ink etc... We could print up some basic newsletters, then branch on to a magazine eventualy. Ok, so who's with me?

Seriously, I dont think it would happen unless you did a online version. I cant imagine shipping all that out to every person who subscribes, which would be a lot. I think it would be better to start a forum and have a bi monthly write up, machine tests, restorations as well as parts suppliers and what not. Gotta start small and work your way up.

I think (and have thought about this idea for a couplke of years) this would be a really cool idea. Making it happen is a whole 'nother ball game. I would be happy to write 1 or 2 articles per month regarding ATC's. We could have secitons like:

    Tech Zone
    Readers Ride
Feature 1 make and model per month
A section for old timers to post cool OLD pictures
A new mod section featuring trikres like Virgils
    restorations
    classifieds

I'm sure many other ideas should start flowing from others. If we do a mailing though, who pays for postage, say we get 500 people who subscribe to a mailing, that's almost $200 in postage alone / month, not to mention the paper and ink costs from the printers. My aunt and uncle do however own a Printing Shop, and I am sure I could get some kind of cost break on doing this though. Like I said, I'm in and will help all I can. Editing and writing is up my alley. As far as publishing, we should have someone who is really good with Microsoft Publisher skills.

I guess we could take orders for future subscriptions. Something like subscribe for 1 year for about $25 - or something like that, it would take a while to get all the subscriptions in for start up- ie - start taking subscriptions Jan 1, 2006 and then have the first subscription go out on June 2006 or something like that. Get the money up front for some funding, then go from there.

Would we pay people a little for their time? Would all profits go to the board? We need to brainstorm things like this if we want to make it happen.

Someone else have any ideas on this?????

Have you guys thought about at first making it a quarterly magazine instead of an every month magazine. Then you could get a base on what subscription rates would be with shipping and so on and also how many folks would actually subscribe....Chris

I had read this before I got the PM.
    My reccomendation here is this:
If you want to do something like this start small. Maybe a bi monthly or quartly newletter 2-3 pages long to start. This would minimize the work and cost at first. Then if it really takes off then you can add pages and number of issues a year.
Can it be done? Yes! How good would it go over? Depends on how good it's done up.

    A couple things to remember:
#1 It will take a lot of work from quite a few Dedicated people. These people will need to do a lot of testing, and research to keep the flow of good information comming.
#2 It will also take quite a bit of money to get it going. And then it will take a fair amount just to sustain it.
#3 You would really need to do a lot of talking to dealers, part suppliers, ect to get them to advertize. Once you get a advertizer to commit then you need to make sure people mention to the company where they found the ad. This would help be able to sustain them as a advertizer in the future.

Even if you get a few advertizers and 500 subscribers it would be VERY hard to break even, let alone turn a profit. So the reward for doing this would mainly be for the good of the machines and for self satisfaction ( about the same as building a Free web site like this one ).

Ok, we need to find out how much we would sell it for. Also we should find out how much USPS would mail them. Howdy, would you be a part of this?

I am in support of it. How ever I currently have more things in the works than time allows. So if you asking if I can do part of the work? The answer is not at this time. With my busy daily schedule now I get a average of 4 - 4 1/2 hours sleep a day. Right now I don't even have time to get things listed on Ebay for the shop. And the shop is how I make $$ to help the site.

    Regarding a printed magazine...

I asked Dean Kirsten about reprinting old 3wheeler articles and publishing them... he said "I'll tell you, today's printing and shipping prices would scare you to death. The idea is great, but the cost would choke a horse".
