    Boost Bottle Or Reed Spacer

I am getting ready to put the motor back together on my 83 250r. Which of these is better or if I use both will I get even more power? Will a reed spacer for a 85-86 250r work? What mod have to be done to the intake for a boost bottle? Does any one have pics of the intake for a boost bottle?

I have a Pro-Tec boost bottle intake here. I'll dig it out and take pics. I think 200Xman has his installed on his 81 250R. I think Trikeaholic has a boost bottle too.

The reed spacer should work, as I know you can put 85-86R reed cage in a 81-84R

what exactly do boost bottles do, I have heard mixed things about them it seems like more of a throttle response thing.

Hit the search button and all of your questions will be answered, but basically its an expansion chamber for any unused, spitback charge. It works off of low pressure. Also why the or?. You can use both at the same time, you could even play around with the placement.

A boost bottle or reed spacer that adds volume between the carb and the reeds will improve low end response while sacrificing very little, and nothing noticeable on top. A spacer generally adds the volume that is practical that will physically fit. A boost bottle's volume is calculated for optimum, assuming you have stock spacing. More is not better. There is an optimum level of volume to add, therefore it is not recommended to run both. The bottle would be the better of the two. Either would help with low end response. The TriZ comes stock with a boost bottle, which is partially responsible for their great low end.

I'm no expert but from what I've read a boost bottle just makes up for poor jetting. If it's jetted right you won't need a boost bottle. But like I said thats just what I read.

Oh by the way I have a spacer on my 83r it does make a differance it tourqe, but they already r pretty tourqy. I did it to make up for the increase in my front sprocket. trying to get the best of both.

A boost bottle has nothing to do with jetting. It adds volume.
