I have a '80 ATC 110. Was running fine. Took off the tank to paint it. Now the motor will only backfire. Gas is getting to carb. Have about pulled my arm out of socket. Can these engines jump out of timing? Need HELP!

If it was running fine.. before you removed the fuel tank.. look there.
Make sure the gas cap vent is not clogged, the fuel is ON or on RES and that you have enough gas in there.
did any dirt/grit fall into the fuel line while the tank was off ?
Was the petcock removed at any time during the paint job ? etc...

85 ATC - 250 SX, Pride and Joy, Bottom-Less Money Pit.
