    82 250R...Turning it sporty like the 83-86

Is there a way. I got a friend going to get an 82 250r today for 500 dollars. Me and him was wondering if he could buy the 83 tank and 83 plastics and make it sporty? I believe the tank off my 200x is an 86 250R, so he could get that off me for 25 dollars.
    I dunno just a qyestion?

I seriously doubt it. Not 100% sure though. I wouldn't pull the trigger on buying anything yet.

You would be better off sticking with a stock tank and fenders. Putting just a skinny front tire like 350x'inNY has on his 82 R, and an extended swinger... those mods will make a lot of difference appearence wise.

I personaly like the stock look of the first generation r's just fine... I almost kinda like it better than the 83-84...

ive driven an 82r and i own an 84, and i can honestly say that a good driver could make the 82 turn just as good as the 84.

btw its good to have a forum about an aspect of racing other than flat out drag. cornering is a big aspect that could use more coverage.

Doesn't the later model 250R have air scoops for the radiator(s)? And the 82 is an aircooled... might not fit.

I like the looks of the 81-82 better than the 83-84R. They have their own oldschool racer look to them, i love it.

'83-84 250R front forks will bolt right up to the '81-82 R's right? I think this would be the first thing I would ever do to one. How much of a difference will the new forks bring?

im almost certain they wont. like i said before, the 81-82 corner fine, mabe get an extended swinger and an extended axle. they look amazing though, their so nastalgic and tough looking. i love the early 250r's.
