I own a 1982 gmc k3500, i want to do a restoration on it or a conversion on it, but i dont want to loose its usefullness, i was thinking of www.4x4bodies.com for a hummer body but thats a little steep for now, even though the project is long term.
any other ideas?

You want don't want to loose its usefullness but you want to convert it to a hummer? Wouldn't you be loosing the truck function, not to mention about $8g's.

Stick the frame/drivetrain under a car... "GMCaddilac"... If the body has cancer really bad with a strong drivetrain I'd definatly look around for a cheap non-runner with a good body to use as a parts truck. I think you can also get quite a few fiberglass panels for your truck if you wanted to.
