Hey,
I'm just curious, between the 350x and a 250r, which is the better jumper? Which has the most travel and stiffest forks and shocks. And which one is the most agile for things like jumping wheeliing and doing tricks on. Thanks

The '85 &'86 R is lighter and has better suspension than the 350X.

without a doubt the r is better!!!
Ride it like you stole it! And never look back! They are too far behind to see!
i can get my X as high as any R but i bottom out when i land where the 85 and 86 R's landings arnt AS bad
As far as trikes are concerned, the R had the best of the best for the time. Some guys will try to argue you that the tecate was pretty close for big air, but the tecate bottomed alot easier. I have gotten about 14 feet of air with my stocker with no real hint of bottoming (though i did play with my compression dampening a little).
as far as the 350x goes, its no real comparison. The 350 is designed as a trailbike and all around fun machine, so the suspension is pretty soft. It's also a heavier bike weighing at about 320lbs as opposed to the r hitting around 275. The late model R was a competition oriented machine, so it had some of the best available technology at the time. I don't even recall of any bikes that had suspension that had as good a feeling as my 85 250r until the late 80's to early 90's mxers were around. The 250r is an awesome handling machine, which is why alot of people choose to ride them to this day.
Tecate is![]()
85/86 R all the way.
i've jumped r's, x's and tecate's and i'd have to give the nod to the 250R.
the suspension just stands out. the 350x is too heavy not to bottom out.
that's my 2 cents

what about the big red 250es? lol. But seriously, I have taken this thing 10 feet high and 22-25 feet out. Didnt bottom out but the pegs snapped off. You would never guess that you could have so much fun with a utility machine
@phlomas, hmmmmmm....maybe I should get ES shock for my SX!!!They must be different because I get 3' off the ground and bottom out! Seriously though, if you didn't bottom, why'd the pegs snap?? Just curious.
