    weak spark

I've got a starting problem on my 84 Big Red 200ES. I've gone thru everything according to the Clymer manual I have. By reading thru some of the old posts I gather the next step is to replace the exciter coil in the alternator. I took the stator off to check the leads etc and they look ok. The resistance of it is 260 ohms which is in spec but I've heard that even tho it may test ok, it may fail in use......the spark I'm getting is NOT a "fat blue spark". I was wondering where a guy can buy these. The guy at the honda shop says $ 202 tho I think there was some mis communication there. Can these be rewound with any success? Any info on how many turns and what size of wire would be greatly appreciated as I do have access to a rewind shop and supplies. thanks

Dealer prices are very costly. How ever if you know someone that can get aftermarket exciter coils then your in luck. And I must say your in luck. Email me for details.

I always go by the 215-240 ohms for the exciter coil.
