I'm looking for a ski. I saw one in an old post from a few years ago.

First, this is a "Classified"...but your new so no biggie and :welcome
What kind of a trike do you have that you would like a ski for? I have an 83R I am building a ski for right now..well, I have the parts and will be startin Monday at school.
What do you need a ski for in Florida?? LOL, but I will let you klnow how it goes nonetheless
1983 250R ~ 1984 125M ~ 1990 POWER WHEELS!! trike![]()
I have been wanting one for my Z.I thought about finding a broke down sled and getting one of the ski's and modding it.

My Dad lives in northern Wisconsin. I go up there a lot for recreational reasons![]()
He just bought a three wheeler and wants a ski for it.
Here is the info he gave me.
it's a 1988 it's a 200 E shaft. The front tire is 25 x 12.00-9 it is about 11 inches wide Yamaha
I know nothing about them. But I'll ride anything

It wont be an 88, Yamaha only made trikes up to 86, so its something between 83 and 86.
I welded two old ski's together for my trike (1983 Yamaha 200e). Then I just drive the wheel over top and strap it on with tie down straps. I havent used it yet, but I imagine it should work well. It'll have way more floatation and better steering than the wheel does.
I'll get a pic in a few minutes.

Currently Trikeless- but I have a LT250R
I think that angle iron is 1/4" can't quite remember, but thats what it looks like. I drew a pick of how the wheel is going to go, and I'll just strap it in a cross over the wheel. The tire width of my yamahauler is 12" so I made it so the edges of the ski's were exactly 12" apart.Originally Posted by Kintore

My brother bought a atc90 when he got back from overseas in 1970 ,,, it had a ski on the front of it. Not much to it and didn't steer worth a crap but was really neat in so far as if it wasn't needed it folded up (or rotated) or flipped up and over the front fender.
I don't ever recall seeing one since then ,,, those would be way up there on the "rare" hondaline parts.

yamahauler the only thing i can see that would go wrong on your little invention is that in an unbroken trail if your skis dont float as well as you hope it will plow because the wheel wont be able to turn, if you could make brackets that were strong enough to take the wheel right off and mount the skis to the forks it would make the front end lighter therefore you would also float better. but that would cancel out riding on many paved/plowed/bare ground areas.
1983 Honda ATC 200x-shes a beater
Past Rides:
1982 ATC Big Red 200e (miss it more than i thought i would)
1985 200x rode it for about a mile
O, you dont worry, they will float. I have some high hopes for this thing.Originally Posted by Oldshell4481
The front end on yami's are very light. It gets decent floatation with the front tire on unbroken trail. So if I increase the area of contact for the front by probaly 3 or 4 times, it will spread out even better and I guarentee you it will work great.![]()
I hope.........
lol goodluck i hope it works
